Miss Edith Peterson Chosen “Miss Winnipesaukee” at the Weirs Gardens Last Evening

Miss Edith Peterson of Dorchester, Mass. was named “Miss Winnipesaukee for 1929” at the Winnipesaukee Gardens last evening, and with the title won a trip to Atlantic City. Miss Peterson is spending her vacation at the Weirs at the Cosy Inn, where she has been a guest for several seasons. The decision was a popular one with the spectators as Miss Peterson is well known and well liked among the summer residents.

A large crowd attended last night’s Bathing Beauty Ball at the Gardens. A carnival at 10:30 followed by the contestants was popular with the dancers. Four contestants made the contest a close one. Ed Murphy’s popular orchestra provided the music and received generous applause from the dancers. Large delegations from Wolfeboro, Alton Bay and Center Harbor came to the Weirs by car and boat, and many island residents took advantage of the moonlit night and came across the lake to attend the affair.
